Fiona Jane, a trendsetter between video and fashion

From model to founder and Creative Director of Spotding Closet, discover blogger and trendsetter Fiona Jane

Honey-colored hair and pale skin. The Danish origins of the 31-year-old Fiona Jane they are immediately betrayed by the thin features and its delicate shades.

Her passion for fashion and her taste have brought her to London where she takes care of her online project Spotding and above all she dedicates herself to Spotding Closet. When did you decide your future would be in fashion?

I have always wanted to work in a creative environment that had to do with fashion. When I was little I used to dress in my grandmother's clothes, then I started sewing clothes myself and dreaming of being a designer. At 16, however, I worked as a model and so I met the behind the scenes of the fashion world, which fascinated me more and more. After a couple of years I started studying Design technology & Business in Copenhagen and shortly after I started the blog, in 2009. Today I focus on Spotding Closet, a video project in which I show the wardrobes of female characters that inspire me. In addition, I DJ at London fashion events and give style advice. Fashion and music are the perfect combo for me!

How would you define your style?

Very eclectic. It changes according to my mood and according to the weather. I've always been fascinated by the 70s, but I like to play with different styles, mix different silhouettes, vintage with modern pieces.

What are the brands you prefer to wear?

Are so many! Saint Laurent, Céline, Loewe, Dries van Noten, Issey Miyake, Stella McCartney, Marques Almeida, ASOS, Topshop, Freya Dalsjø, 2ndDay, Baum und Pferdgarten, Mark Kenly Domino Tan, Saks Potts, Acne, Carin Wester, House of Dagmar, BACK, Lala Berlin, ZARA and a lot of vintage bought during my travels and on eBay.

Where do you usually shop?

I usually shop on my blog, where I collect the items I like best found on Net-a-porter, Matchesfashion, Browns, Asos and Topshop. I also enjoy shopping on my travels, a mix of luxury and fast-fashion stores. I also love to stop by the flea markets and selected vintage shops.

Do you have a style-icon you are inspired by?

I love the style and attitude of women like Françoise Hardy, Jane Birkin, Patti Smith, Jeanne Damas, Say Lou Lou, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Erin Wasson and Alexa Chung.

Do you have a beauty routine?

I try to be very careful to remove my make-up thoroughly and use a nourishing cream. I use different brands: N ° 7 eye make-up remover, Clinique's three-phase, their mild soap, moisturizer and everything related to the eye contour, Ziaja's day & night cream, Kiehl's midnight recovery concentrate and their regenerating overnight, the conditioner and cleanser by Aesop, Bio-oil, the scrub by Bjork & Berries and the intensive hair mask by Moroccanoil.

I always wear mascara, my favorite brands are Lancôme, DIORshow, Rimmel, and L'Oréal. I cannot live without the concealer to keep my skin always perfect. I use MAC's Studio Finish and YSL's Touche Eclat followed by MAC's Studio Fix or Bare Minerals' Golden Fair. For the evening I like to apply MAC and Topshop eyeliner, Chanel brown eyeshadow and MAC Soft & Gentle Mineralize Skin Finish as a highlighter on the cheeks. I also like to wear red lipstick better if from Nars, MAC or Chanel, but in case I leave the eyes more natural.

Do you happen to read other sites or fashion blogs?

I always read the Vogue website, Business Of Fashion, Space Matters, Makeitlast. And then I spend a lot of time on Instagram!

What would you recommend our users to buy for next year?

A cashmere turtleneck sweater like those of the Danish brand 2ndDay and a "lint shaver" to keep your wool sweaters looking like new! As accessories Loewe's Puzzle Bag and their Filipa sunglasses. And finally the patchwork jeans by Vetements.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I try to create videos, learn more about photography, read and travel, preferably in Ibiza or Copenhagen!

Do you have a project for the future that you want to share with us?

I have a couple of top secret projects lined up for next year, but the most important to me is Spotding Closet. I have already shared 12 videos, and from now on there will be one new video per month!
